An XML sitemap helps search engines discover and index all the important pages on your website. It lists each URL along with optional metadata like the last modification date, how frequently the page changes, and its relative priority.
Best practices: Include only canonical, indexable URLs in your sitemap. Pages blocked by robots.txt, noindex pages, and redirect URLs should not be included. Keep your sitemap under 50,000 URLs and 50 MB uncompressed.
Set the <priority> value to indicate which pages are most important relative to each other. Use 1.0 for your homepage and key landing pages, and lower values for less critical pages.
After generating your sitemap, upload it to your site's root directory and reference it in your robots.txt file with a Sitemap: https://yoursite.com/sitemap.xml directive.
